From the Archives: The Release of Summit Saga IPA

When Summit Brewing Co. first dipped a toe in the IPA pool we maintained our focus on traditional brewing and released the English-style Summit India Pale Ale.

Our Summit IPA, which later became Summit True Brit IPA, was brewed with an extra wallop of dry hopping but still maintained balance with a strong malt backbone.

While True Brit IPA was beloved and enjoyed by many, as the years went on there were calls for us to add another IPA to our line-up. One that boasted even more bitterness in its body.

So, in 2012, we released Summit Sága IPA. Inspired by our extremely successful Silver Anniversary Ale, this new IPA boasted huge hop flavor with bright notes of kiwi, passion fruit and apricot. It was bold in flavor, assertive in aromas and clean in its finish.

Now a staple in our year-round line-up, at the time it’s future was uncertain.

Clearly, it made a lasting impression as just six months after releasing it in early February 2013 we announced it was coming in 12-packs of 12oz bottles.

Enjoy these throwback photos from a time when the world did not yet have 12-packs of Sága IPA, and a quick video from when Sága IPA was bottled for the first time!

Prost!
