June is Barrel-Aged Beer Month at the Summit Beer Hall

HI EVERYONE! DO YOU LIKE BEER?

Recently we had to shut down the Summit Beer Hall for a few weeks due to construction — part of a modest remodel project we began last September. We’re not completely finished with our renovations just yet, but despite a few ongoing projects we are eager to welcome you back to the Summit Beer Hall with a whole month of special barrel-aged beer releases — FOUR BEERS TOTAL — including some returning favorites and few new flavors we think you’ll go ape-sh*t for. Check it.

SUMMIT BEER HALL EXCLUSIVE: DEATH AND ALL HIS FRIENDS
First up on Thursday, May 31, is the return of Summit Beer Hall Exclusive: Barrel-Aged Death And All His Friends. A 9.9% ABV stout aged in rum barrels for 90 days, Death and All His Friends offers notes of chocolate, leather, tobacco, and smoke, plus some dark roasty character, traces of rum, vanilla and Coldplay, and maybe a little raisin, too. If you missed it back in February, this here might be your only chance to taste the beer before it’s gone for good.

SUMMIT BARREL-AGED BADGE CHASER
Next up on Thursday, June 14, is Summit Barrel-Aged Badge Chaser, an 8.5% ABV Brown Ale we debuted at Dark Horse Bar & Eatery just last month. Aged 120 days in rye whiskey barrels, Badge Chaser offers bready, toasted malt flavor with hints of caramel, dark fruit, chocolate, maybe a little espresso, and a dash of hop spice. Thanks to its time in the barrel, you’ll also find some additional notes of brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, smoke, a touch of maple syrup, and spicy rye in the final beer.

SUMMIT BARREL-AGED BANJAXED
Slated for Thursday, June 28, is the release of Summit Barrel-Aged Banjaxed. Do you remember Summit Banjaxed, our Irish-Style Brown Ale brewed especially for Pizza Lucé and served on nitro? Well, that beer is gone and retired for now, but we did hold back a small amount for barrel aging. (You’re welcome, Mom.) Combining a blend of pale and caramel malts with U.S. and New Zealand hops to create a full and balanced beer with aromas of caramel, stone fruit and blackcurrants, this limited batch was aged in rye whiskey barrels, gathering notes of caramel, stone fruit, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, spicy rye and black cherries.

SUMMIT GREAT NORTHERN PORTER AGED IN JAMAICAN RUM BARRELS
Last but not least, and also arriving Thursday, June 28, is Summit Great Northern Porter aged in Jamaican Rum Barrels. Never before sampled, served, poured or tasted, this rummed-up version of our classic porter will likely feature flavors and aromas of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, rum, vanilla and raisin. Let’s leave room for a few surprises, though, because it’s still in barrels and we haven’t yet tasted it. Stay tuned for updates, if you are so inclined.

Make sure you swing by the Beer Hall in the coming weeks to taste one of these delicious, limited beers and/or the rest of our kickass lineup. Keep an eye on www.summitbrewing.com/summit-beer-hall, too, for information about events, food trucks, special releases, and maybe perhaps some grand re-opening festivities taking place later this summer.
