Taste Summit Old Blaggard Barleywine Through the Years
When it comes to Minnesota breweries, Summit Brewing Company is one of the legends. Having started in 1986, we’re hitting 34 years next year!
But, perhaps one of the best things about being in our almost-mid-thirties is being able to give drinkers a taste of how our beer has evolved through the years.
This weekend, we’re doing just that with our Summit Union Series Old Blaggard Barleywine.
Beer Specifics
Inspired by the strong ales of the English brewing town of Burton-On-Trent, Old Blaggard Barleywine is brewed with complex British barley and hop varieties. Aged for six-months, this beer gives strong aromas of toffee and sweet flavors of fig and orange marmalade, all culminating in a warm, full mouthfeel and vinous finish.
It was first brewed in 2015 as part of the Summit Union Series. In 2016, we brought it back as part of our 30 Anniversary line-up, then we reintroduced it in 2019, too.
Event Specifics
Now, for the first time, you can try all three iterations at our Summit Ratskeller. Starting Thursday, we’re inviting guests to a Vertical Tasting of Summit Old Blaggard Barleywine. Try a flight of three 7oz. pours of 2015, 2016 and 2019 Old Blaggard Barleywine for $20, or enjoy a 10 oz pour of the 2015 or 2016 Old Blaggard Barleywine in a vintage Belgian glass for $10. Of course, the 2019 Old Blaggard Barleywine is still available in a 10oz pour for $7.
This special tasting is available starting Thursday, Nov. 21 and goes through Sunday, Nov. 24 or as long as taps last.
