Summit Dakota Soul Craft Lager Turns Two
We may be just a few months into 2020, but already we’ve had a lot to celebrate here at Summit Brewing Company. The release of a new seasonal and a new variety pack, and now we’re adding one more thing to that list: Summit Dakota Soul Craft Lager has turned two-years-old.
That’s right, our beloved Midwest-style pilsener has been a part of our year-round lineup for just over two years. Now-a-days, in the craft beer world, it can be hard to find a beer that lasts a few months after its release, let alone two years. So, we think it’s appropriate to celebrate.
In case you forgot, Dakota Soul was launched in January 2018.
The concept came not just from a love of the style, but also a desire to utilize the exclusive Moravian 37 barley that Summit Brewing Company Founder and President Mark Stutrud’s family grows on their farm in North Dakota.
It’s this two-row barley that helps create the lightly toasted, graham cracker flavor base of the beer.
“Water is a beer’s foundation,” Stutrud said. “Hop is like a spice. Yeast is the character. But barley — barley is the soul of beer.”
Saaz and Loral hops add in a spicy, floral note to create a balanced, crisp and refreshing lager.
As Stutrud said, “Bottom line, it makes the beer taste even better when you’ve got Stutrud barley.”
So, join us in celebrating Dakota Soul’s birthday by grabbing one from a location near you.
