Summit Brewing Co. Wins Silver Medal at 2017 Great American Beer Festival®
Summit Extra Pale Ale wins sixth GABF medal since 2007
Summit Brewing Company’s Extra Pale Ale was awarded the silver medal in the Classic English-Style Pale Ale category at this year’s Great American Beer Festival (GABF) in Denver, Colorado. Produced by the Brewers Association, the GABF is the largest commercial beer competition in the world and recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States. And with 7,923 beers competing for medals, they can’t all be winners.
“Summit Extra Pale Ale is in a class of itself, and it continues to demonstrate its longevity and relevance,” says Summit Brewing Company Founder and President Mark Stutrud. “The award is certainly gratifying, and it goes to show that we know what we’re doing for a living.”
A panel of 276 esteemed, highly respectable, and hardworking judges from 13 countries chose the 2017 Great American Beer Festival competition winners, with 2,217 U.S. breweries represented. Judges awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals across 98 different beer-style categories on October 7, 2017.
Summit’s Extra Pale Ale previously won the bronze medal in 2007, 2008, and 2014, as well as the silver medal in 2010. Most recently, Summit EPA took home the gold medal in 2016. Overall, that’s six medals since 2007, and all the reason you need to keep this beer in your fridge.
