Celebrate National Stout Month with Summit Brewing Co.

February is here! Which means, not only can we celebrate making it through another January we can also celebrate National Stout Month!

National Stout Month began in 1993 at a Boulder, Colo. brewery. The western brewer wanted to take advantage of the dark winter months to show off its dark winter beers.

In the 29 years since, National Stout Month has grown to be celebrated across the country’s brewing community.

While stouts are fantastic any time of year (we know, we serve ours year-round), winter truly is their time to shine.

Often thought to be heavy and sweet, many drinkers turn to dark styles to warm them up during cold days. Of course, true stout lovers know this style comes in many variations and can range in flavor, body and depth. If you’re curious about the history of the style, we’ve explored that here.

Though current times are a bit unwieldy, we’ve managed to find a way you can still enjoy a dark brew from Summit Brewing Co. this February.

In case the news hasn’t reached you yet – which, how may we ask? – after 17 years Summit Oatmeal Stout is now available in bottles. Last year, we made the decision to finally package up our beautifully decadent Oatmeal Stout in 6-packs and 12-packs of 12oz bottles.

Still full and sweet, the recipe is the same as that served on a Nitrogen/CO2 mix. However, drinkers can expect sharpness to the sip and crispness to the finish from the bottle.

That means, no matter what may be occurring out in the world, you can still grab some Oatmeal Stout to enjoy any time at home. Of course, if you prefer Oatmeal Stout on Nitro, we’re still serving that up as well!

So, nitro or not, grab a stout and cheers to dark beers!
