Find Summit Brewing Co. at the St. Paul Winter Carnival
If you live in the Midwest, you’ve undoubtedly heard many a folk discuss their disdain for the month of January.
“It’s too long.”
“It’s too dark.”
“It’s too cold.”
While these things may ring true for some, hearty Midwesterners know to get through winter you have to embrace winter.
That’s just what we do here in Minnesota. Celebrating the most frigid season is one of our favorite past times. So much so, we have a festival devoted to it: the St. Paul Winter Carnival!
As legend has it, King Boreas came upon the snowy state of Minnesota when he was traveling the world after assigning rule over the four winds to his four brothers. When exploring Minnesota, he deemed downtown Saint Paul to be the “Realm of Boreas,” a winter capitol that celebrated wind, snow and ice.
Now, once a year for 10 days, King Boreas and Aurora, Queen of the Snows, come together with King Winter, Queen of the Northlands, King Frost, Queen of the Snowflakes and all the princes and princesses to celebrate the majesty of winter in historic St. Paul.
Now, the Coolest Celebration on Earth is here again and this year Summit Brewing Co. has been named the Official Craft Beer of the event!
The celebration is almost entirely outdoors, featuring things like ice skating, ice sculptures and even ice bars. This is where you can find Summit beer! At the Ice Bar at Rice Park, located directly across from the main entertainment stage, you can find 12oz cans of Summit Extra Pale Ale, Summit Sága IPA, Summit Frost Line Rye IPA and Summit Keller Pils. These will also be available at the Warming House in Landmark Plaza across the street from Rice Park.
While beer won’t be served outside the bar areas, Summit is also throwing itself behind the 6th annual Freeze Your Bags Off Tournament. The two-flight single-elimination tournament, featuring 16 teams per flight, will take place from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Sunday, January 30. Prizes will be awarded to winners!
