February is that special time in our lives when we entertain thoughts of living in another state…it’s slushy and our beloved patios are closed. Before you start checking flights - now is the time to enjoy the indoor cultural treasures of the local area. Did you know that there are many museums and cultural institutions that not only sell Summit beer but some even have special nights devoted to the 21+ plus club?
The first is the Minneapolis Institute of Arts – Summit sponsors Third Thursday’s at the MIA which is a free event that combines MIA’s diverse art collection with unique programs, drinks, and live music. The next event on March 15th has Kinect Sports Challenges, Pub Quizzes and of course Summit beer!
Minneapolis/Saint Paul International Film Festival: This Summit sponsored event runs April 12 - May 3 at the St. Anthony Main Theatre in Minneapolis, MN. Over its three-week run, the Festival will exhibit some 300 narrative, documentary, and short films to an anticipated audience of over 45,000. Cheers to the celebration of film!
Hennepin Theatre Trust: This includes the historic State, Orpheum and Pantages Theatres – there are some great shows playing this early spring including Green Day’s American Idiot, Disney’s Lion King and Girls Only: The Secret Comedy of Women. Grab a Summit at intermission and enjoy!
Guthrie Theater: This beautiful theater is open to the public even when shows aren’t playing – cheap romance idea - grab a Summit at the bar and sit upstairs enjoying the view of St. Anthony Falls. Or take in one of the many, many shows that play at this architectural masterpiece.
St. Paul Library: Thursday evenings at the James J. Hill Reference Library in downtown St. Paul are nights to break all the library rules, listen to a great band and drink some beer. No whispering allowed! Tickets are $15, or $10 for members of The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library or the James J. Hill Reference Library. All attendees over 21 who bring a current library card from any library system will receive a free Summit. Library staff will be on hand to register city residents for library cards.
Science Museum Social Science: This event opens the Science Museum to adults only (21+) on select Wednesdays. Spend an evening enjoying drinks, food, live music, activities, and all of the museum's exhibits. Imagine playing with all of those neat exhibits with a beer in your hand!
Minnesota Fringe Festival: Come experience a Minnesota smorgasbord of theater – this week of theater is decided by lottery so I recommend getting a gold pass and seeing a wide range of shows. August 2-12th.
You can drink a Summit beer while enjoying the cultural highlights of the city – with such great beer, theater, film, museums and of course food, Minnesota is a heck’uva place to call home.
