Things are busy around here so we wanted to make sure you knew about some things going on now and coming up this summer. I know, cruel to talk about summer when it is soooo grey these days. Some things we're thinking about:
This weekend we’re hosting a Feed My Starving Children food packing event at the brewery. The St. Paul Rotary Club is organizing the event and is looking for more volunteers. If you’ve never done this before, it is a pretty impressive operation that feeds hungry kids around the world. For more information and to sign up, visit http://volunteer.fmsc.org/Register/mobilepack/event.aspx?event=1104-32.
Rock the Garden sold out in about 24 hours, which is just nuts. The Current will be giving away tickets, so there is still a chance you can get in if you are a lucky person. The Walker also has a waitlist going. As a proud sponsor, our beer will be pouring again. Look for two draft trucks at the top of the hill this year. It seems no matter what we do, we’re always having to move 160lb kegs from one draft truck to another-hopefully this new layout will help save our backs and keep the beer lines moving smoothly!
Another great music event we sponsor is the Music in the Zoo concert series. All summer long you can take in a diverse selection of live music in one of the best outdoor venues around. It truly is a great place to see a concert. Visit their website for the full line-up, but a particular concert that stuck out was Wanda Jackson and Justin Townes Earle on August 6. Wanda Jackson! Let’s have a party Wanda Jackson! Amazing. Jack White loves the classic ladies, I dig it.
Coming a little sooner is the Lyn-Lake Street Fest on May 15. Bike rally, two stages of music, food from area restaurants, oh my! Music acts include Haley Bonar, Peter Wolf Crier, and Heiruspecs. Party, party.
Speaking of spring, the Saint Paul Saints home opener is coming up on May 12. Average ticket prices range from $5 to $12, how can you beat that? The games are always a blast and plus they have three Summits available: EPA, Pilsener, and Horizon Red. Sounds like a perfect summer night to me!
Some other events on our calendar include the High Plains Festival on July 2 with headliners Trampled by Turtles, Grand Old Day on June 5, Pizza Luce Block Party on August 13, and the Minnesota State Fair starting August 25.
Oh, and there are more events we sponsor, this is just to get you started. It’s got to be this dismal weather; all I can think about is drinking a beer outside. Soon, soon.
